...however, we have done some reading on the subject, and this is our understanding of how the law works in regards to copyright issues.
You are allowed to make ONE digital copy of your music for backup purposes. You may NOT share that copy with others outside of your household. You may NOT use any part of copyright-protected music for your slideshows. By making use of our service, you are stating that you own the original media, you do not have another copy of it, and you will not use the copy we make for any illegal purposes. We are not responsible for any illegality or misuse by you of your materials.
We have purchased royalty-free music to put behind your photo slideshows and movie DVDs. If you have royalty-free music you would like us to use on your slideshow, you can send that to us and we will use it for your order only.
Of course, your pictures and home movies are yours, and you can do whatever you like with them. It's just if you choose to have music added that the copyright law comes into action.
As far as moving commercial VHS movies over to DVD, we cannot and will not even attempt to circumvent any copyright protection that may be on the tape. Frankly, you would be better off buying the DVD of the film, since the quality will be better and you usually get lots of fun "extras" on the DVDs that you don't get on the VHS tape. Our service of moving VHS to DVD is intended for family videos.
